Run Facebook Security Checkup: Secure Your Own Account End to End

Walk through Facebook's built-in Security Checkup start to finish — login alerts, saved logins, two-factor and recent-login review — as a single hardening checklist you run on the account you own.

Start the checkup walk-through
No password needed
We never ask for your Facebook password — you act inside Facebook's own settings.
Owner-only
Guidance is for the account you own, or a minor child or consenting adult via official tools.
Official channels only
Every step uses Facebook's built-in Security Checkup, not a workaround.

No guarantees and no anonymity claims: Security Checkup hardens access, it cannot reveal an intruder's identity.

Start Security Checkup in 4 steps

1
Sign in to your account
Log in to the Facebook account you own from a device you trust.
2
Open Security Checkup
Go to Settings & privacy, then Password and security, then Security Checkup.
3
Work through each card
Follow the guided cards: login alerts, saved logins, two-factor and recent logins.
4
Confirm and revisit
Apply each change, then re-run the checkup after any password reset or new device.

Have your phone or authenticator app nearby — 2FA steps may ask you to confirm a code.

What Security Checkup covers in one pass

Login alerts
Turn on notifications for logins from new devices or browsers.
Saved logins
Review which devices stay signed in and remove the ones you don't recognize.
Two-factor auth
Add a second step so a password alone can't unlock your account.
Recent-login review
Scan where your account was accessed and end any unfamiliar session.

Every card acts on your own account inside Facebook — Security Checkup never shows who viewed your profile, and no tool can.

How it works

  1. 1
    Enable login alerts
Switch on alerts so unrecognized logins reach your email and notifications.
⏱ 1-2 min · Alert channels show as On in the card.
  2. 2
    Review saved logins
Check the list of devices kept logged in and remove any you don't use.
⏱ 2-3 min · Only devices you recognize remain in the list.
  3. 3
    Confirm two-factor
Verify 2FA is active and your method (app or SMS) is current.
⏱ 2-4 min · Facebook confirms two-factor is turned on.
  4. 4
    Check recent logins
Review the where-you're-logged-in list and log out anything unfamiliar.
⏱ 2-3 min · Active sessions match your own devices and locations.

There's no finish line — re-run the checkup after any password change, lost device, or unfamiliar alert.

FAQ

Where do I find Security Checkup on Facebook?
Open Settings & privacy, then Password and security, then choose Security Checkup. On mobile the path is the same under the menu. It only works on an account you're signed in to and own.
Will Security Checkup tell me who logged into my account?
It shows recent logins and active sessions — device type, approximate location and time — for your own account. It cannot identify a specific person by name, and no legitimate tool can promise that.
Does running the checkup log me out of my other devices?
Not automatically. You choose which saved logins or active sessions to end. If you want a clean slate, you can log out everywhere and then sign back in only where you trust.
Can I use this to monitor my child's Facebook?
Only with the account owner's knowledge — for a minor child, use official supervision and consent-based settings. This guide is for securing an account you own or supervise legitimately, never covert access.
How often should I re-run Security Checkup?
Run it after any password reset, a lost or replaced phone, an unrecognized-login alert, or every few months as a routine. There's no deadline — it's a repeatable checklist, not a one-time fix.
